Any know if AIU is reputable for an online degree?

Has anyone used or know anything about American Intercontinental University and its online programs? You cant access their website without filling out an application and I really dont want advisors calling me everyday trying to put the hard sell on me!

Is this place reputable? Im wanting an online degree in Visual Communications and Graphic Arts. Its just almost impossible to find information on a school without them throwing the sales pitch at you. I just want to compare schools and my options.

Any suggestions?

According to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) website, AIU is accredited but on probation. Probation is the highest punishment SACS will give other than denying accreditation. AIU was placed on probation in December 2005. By December 2006, AIU was still found to be in non-compliance and their probation was extended one year. Two years is the maximum amount of time SACS will allow a school to remain on probation. If AIU does not fix the very serious non-compliance issues, they will lose accreditation in December 2007. At that point, a degree from AIU will be useless. I highly recommend that all current students transfer schools immediately. I also recommend that prospective students consider other schools before AIU.

Do online schools and 1 year MBA schools really educate?e.g.American InterContinental Universiy?

Normal MBA program is 2 years(full time) and 3 yrs(part time).but schools like American InterContinental University have 1 yr MBA program(full time).but their full time schedule is the same as part time schedule for other schools.i think they are rip off they just want to enroll as many students as possible befor ppl realise its worthless, sharm, scam, etc

AIU offers their MBA in 1 year, IF you meet requirements at the undergrad level where they actually "waive" certain classes to get you out early. Some of their campuses are not Accredited however. I work for the University of Phoenix, and the person above me is correct, before you fill out a request form make sure it is something you want information on or they will call you daily until you request them to stop. You physically have to say, never call me again. Our program is 13 courses for the general MBA or 39 credits, it typically takes between 1 1/2- 2 years depending on if you take breaks or go year round. All of our students are full time, but, you take one course (3 credits) for 6 weeks each (at the Grad level). This allows you to receive financial aid in line with the government regulations on title IV funding in which you must complete 24 credits or 30 weeks of instruction in order to receive FA from a regionally acredited school. If you have questions, I would be happy to help you, so, you do not have to have UOP calling you 5 times a day or whatever tactics we use once someone has made a request for information.

How difficult is the curriculum at AI online from AIU online?

I am going to be taking classes at AIU (American Intercontinental University) online in October, but have looked into AI (the Art Institute -www.aionline.com) art curriculum… I dont know which one is more beneficial, and I have yet to hear from the people on campus in which I have contacted with the same question.

Do you know that AIU’s accreditation has been rescinded? Are you aware of the numerous troubles students have had with their so-called degree programs? Why in the world are you considering taking courses through them?

If you MUST take online courses, please take them under the auspices of a well-known and REGIONALLY (not nationally) accredited university. Many reputable state universities offer online courses (and even degrees) these days. Please do your research before you waste all of your money.

Does it matter if your degree is from an online university when seeking employment?

University of Phoenix or American Intercontinental University? Which is better?

The answers you are being provided are not supported by the present state of the research. The academic research presently tells us that the acceptability of the degree is founded almost entirely in the reputation of the awarding college and not whether it was online or in-the-seat.

While there are some employers who have an immediate issue with "online" as Kalos posits, reality is that in the coming years, it will become increasingly more difficult to get a degree that doesn’t have some online component. Times have changed and so has education and training.

That said, if you wanted to pick two colleges with a reputation at the bottom (without consideration of online or not) – you have picked two that are at least very close to the bottom of the list.

If you want to earn your degree online, look at places like UMass, Florida State, U Florida, the state university in your state, etc…

There are many people resisting online education right now just as many people resisted online shopping a few years ago and resisted home computers as recently as 10 years ago. These people are simply resisting an inevitable change – the change is here. When the likes of Harvard, MIT, UC Berkley, Stanford, etc… started teaching online, they set the standard for the coming change. That’s just they way it is.

PS: what college you attended is not a protected class. It’s perfectly legal to discriminate on the basis of where you went to college. It’s done everyday. There are some employers that won’t look at your resume if it’s not from one of the top 25. Everything else goes in the trash.

Which online university is the best accepted by employers?

Argosy University Online Programs

University of Phoenix

Capella University

Saint Leo University

American InterContinental University

Saint Leo is by far the best on this list.
The others are for-profit schools, with all the predatory practices this implies.

What do you think about AIU Online?

I’m attending American Intercontinental University Online because I can’t afford daycare to go to a traditional one. I have just finished my associates and am working on my bachelors and have started to see some negative articles about AIU Online and just wanted to know what other people thought about the school if they have attended it.

I thought it was a good school. I finished my MBA in Feb. and thought it was challenging. Many people will try to discredit an “on-line” program because there are no physical classrooms with teachers. If you look at the treads of many Universities, you will find that most are now starting to offer on-line classes. Another added benefit was that most of the professors weren’t career educators. Many had real experience with what they were teaching

American Intercontinental University?

I was thinking about going back to college online and a representative from American Intercontinental University (AIU) contacted me today and was giving me information on their programs. But he told me I had until noon tomorrow to complete the application. Classes don’t start until the middle of October and I have other college’s to check out.

Has anyone had any experience with this school? Are they a good school? I don’t like being rushed into a major decision like that.

When ever they rush you like that, they are dishonest and trying to make money off you ANY WAY THEY CAN. Shop around, and then MAYBE look at that college again.
